Religious Freedom World Report

Prepared by the International Coalition for Religious Freedom

Tajikistan

The Constitution provides for religious freedom. However, according to the law on Freedom of Faith, all religious communities must register with the Committee on Religious Affairs, and the government monitors the affairs of several religious organizations. The government states that their purpose for this is to insure that religious groups do not become overtly political.
