The government generally respects freedom of religion. There is no state religion, and the government says it does
not discriminate against any faith. The Catholic Church is favored in some
respects. The Ministry of Justice must first formally recognize a religious
organization before its practice is allowed. There has been some restriction on
clergy regarding criticism of the government.
