El Salvador

Article 25 of the 1983 Constitution of El Salvador provides for "free exercise of all religions, without other restriction than that required by morals or the public order..." Article 26 grants judicial personality to the Catholic Church and allows for the attainment of such status by other religious bodies in conformity with the law. Religious ministers are forbidden from holding public office. The president and all members of the Supreme Court must be laymen.
